Pollen self-incompatibility of olive cultivars is one of the important problem for development of olive cultivation. This study was carried out to determine the most suitable pollinizer, for Abou-satl and Kaissy olive cultivars in Tarom region. In this experiment effect of Abou-satl, Mission, Grossane, Kaissy, Jlot, Verdial de Jaén, Picudo, Cornicabra and Zard as pollinizer olive cultivars on Abou-satl and Kaissy as pollen receivers were compared using a randomized complete block design with three replications. In the controlled pollination, perfect flowers were emasculated and pollen grains of pollinizer cultivars were spread over emasculated flowers, to allow controlled pollination. In the second method, pollen grains, germinated on medium containing pistil extracts of Abou-satl and Kaissy, were counted. Results showed that among olive cultivars, there were significant difference at the 1% level in the number of inflorescences per shoots and percent of perfect flowers and also number of flowers per inflorescence was significantly different at the 5% level. Moreover, results revealed that Cornicabra with 0.59 compatibility index had the most compatibility with Abou-satl and was suitable pollenizers for this cultivar. Moreover, Grossane, Picudo and Mission cultivars with 0.36, 0.24 and 0.24 compatibility index, respectively, were compatible with Abou-satl and can be used as pollinizers for this cultivar as well. Pollination results in Kaissy cultivar indicated that Cornicabra cultivar with 1.36 compatibility index, had the most compatibility with Kaissy and was perfectly compatible with this cultivar. Abou-satl and Zard cultivars with 0.67 and 0.65 compatibility index with Kaissy, respectively, were partially compatible with this cultivar. The results of this study showed that Cornicabra is the most suitable pollinizer for Abou-satl followed by Grossane, Picudo and Mission cultivars. It was also found that Cornicabra was completely compatible and the best suitable pollinizer for Kaissy cultivar.
