Abstract

Behrad, a new long eggplant cultivar with dark purple color, high yield potential and moderately resistance to Fusarium wilt
Behrad eggplant cultivar (line Y6) was selected, evaluated and released by using the pure line selection (single plant selection) method from Yazd tall eggplant landrace during 2007-2018. This line was selected as one of the superior lines during all experiments including Augment, preliminary, advanced and adabtability and yield stability trials. Advanced selected lines were examined in Karaj, Varamin and Dezful regions. The results showed that line Y6 produced 46.1 tha-1 compare to control variety with 12 tha-1. Furthermore, this line had appropriate quality characteristics. The results of adabtability and yield stability trials during 2011 to 2012 showed that the Line Y6 had the highest average yield, 55.4 tha-1, and stabiltity among studied lines. Line Y6 was releasead as a new variety so called Behrad, with a high yield, uniformity and fruit quality.
