Gardeners Problems in Guilan Province from Actuary Expert’s Point of View

Abstract

This study was conducted to find out the problems of gardeners in Guilan Province. To accomplish the research objectives, a Delphi procedure was used. At the first stage, a questionnaire with open-ended questions was used to collect data. Data were analyzed using the multi-response analysis. Based on the first stage’s results the questionnaire for second stage was designed. Then, a five-point-Likert type scale was used for this stage. Results showed that the high price of agricultural inputs and their low access, low education, traditional attitudes between gardeners, insufficient information on gardening, migration from rural to urban areas, low-income, sales of premature products of gardens, incorrect use of fertilizers and chemical pesticides, lack of mechanization in gardens, unreasonable imports of some horticultural crops and lack of guaranteed purchasing of horticultural crops with real prices were among the most important issues presented by experts. Increasing educational programs for gardens and number of experts in villages for technical assistance to gardeners as well as providing enough facilities and financial supports for gardeners were among the most important factors offered by experts.
